‘Fish’ killed in Belmont

Hours after leaving the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court yesterday on a drug-related matter, Kevon Joseph aka “Fish” was shot dead while in the back seat of a brown Toyota Corolla on Hermitage Street, Belmont this afternoon.

Joseph,36, and another man were on Belmont Circular Road at around 4.30 pm, when the car in which they were travelling was shot at by a gunman. The driver reportedly swerved onto Hermitage Street to escape the attacker and abandoned the car. However the gunman shot Joseph as he tried to hide in the back seat.

Residents heard the gunshots and called the police.

Members of the Inter Agency Task Force and the Homicide Bureau Region One went to the scene and closed off the street, as they began collecting spent shells on the road, slowing traffic to a crawl. A district medical officer visited the scene and ordered the removal of the body. An autopsy is expected to be done today.
