A DIEGO Martin teenager is being sought in connection with the sexual assault of an eight-year-old primary school student.
On Sunday, the girl’s mother went to a police station in West Trinidad and reported to Child Protection Unit police officers that her eight-year-old daughter reported to her earlier that day, that she was sexually assaulted.
The woman told police she was informed by her daughter that sometime last week, her 17-year-old cousin inserted his fingers into her private parts. The victim also told her mother she was threatened by the teenager who told her not to tell anyone what he did.
The child is expected to be taken to a district medical officer for an examination as part of the police’s investigations. Police said that when a search was made for the suspect, he was nowhere to be found. Western Division officers Insp Shawn Huggins and Sgt Christopher Arun are leading investigations.
